October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month

National Breast Cancer Awareness Month educates women about the importance of early detection.  More and more women are getting mammograms to detect breast cancer in its earliest stages.  As a result, breast cancer deaths are on the decline.  The Peer Group physicians and staff encourage all women to get mammograms on a regular basis.  For more information, contact the Susan G. Komen Foundation, www.susangkomen.com.

In honor of breast cancer patients, survivors and caretakers, several events are scheduled at the Morris Museum throughout October.  A Lunch and Learn lecture is scheduled each Tuesday from noon to 1:00 p.m.  The Peer Group’s Dr. Isaac Starker will present a discussion on breast reconstruction, “Image Enhancement Through Surgery” on October 13th.

A reception on Wednesday, September 30th kicks off the month’s programs, which include an exhibit portraying the courage of breast cancer survivors through photographic images and an art therapy workshop scheduled for Thursday, October 15th.

All programs are free.  Reservations are required.  For more information, contact the Morris Museum at 973-971-3718 or 800-247-9580.
