HEALTHY SKIN BEGINS WITH SUN PROTECTION
The number one cause of premature aging and skin cancer is exposure to both UVA/UVB rays. Repeated exposure to the sun causes skin damage, producing the discomfort of sunburn and accelerating the aging process. This damage occurs deep within the cellular level of the skin and the aging effects become worse with additional exposure.
Sun exposure is directly linked to skin cancer, the number one form of cancer in the United States, affecting over 11 million people every year. Unlike UVB rays, UVA rays pass through car and office windows even clouds. These UVA rays penetrate deep into the skin causing premature aging. When choosing a sunscreen, be sure to choose a broad spectrum sunscreen that protects from both UVA/UVB rays. Sun protection needs to be an essential part of your daily skin care regimen, rain or shine.

Photodamge Study of identical twins
What could more purely demonstrate the effects of photodamage than a study of identical twins?
This is a photo of a study done on aging in identical twins. The photo demonstrates the effects of sun-damage firsthand. At the time of the photos, both twins were 59 years old. However, the twin on the left had a long history of sun exposure, and had been a practicing nudist.
As they are genetically alike, any variation in the damage to their skin was clearly due to environmental factors, in this case ultraviolet (UV) exposure. The more sun-damaged twin has deeper wrinkles and sagging skin, when compared to her twin sister.

My experience with Cancer is partly hereditary, mostly due to negligence, and maybe it was just in my cards. At 29 years young, I heard those three words, “You have Cancer.” My immediate reaction was, “I can’t believe all those years in the sun caught up to me so fast”.
My second reaction was, “This can’t be happening to me; what did I do to deserve this; Am I GONNA DIE?”. My enemy was Basal Cell Skin Cancer.
My battle began in January 2003. My first sign of skin cancer started as an open cut on my nose...
